Il 14 ottobre 1980 nello studio Young ‘un Sound a Nashville, Tennessee, venne rifatta la base strumentale (numero di master: KWA5-8554) per una sua inclusione nell’album “Guitar man” del 1981 che poi non avvenne. Questa versione sarà pubblicata dalla Follow That Dream Records nel CD del 2000 “Too much monkey business”.

STORIA DELLA CANZONE:

“I’ll Hold You In My Heart” venne incisa dallo stesso Arnold nel 1947; la sua versione vendette oltre un milione di copie e restò in classifica per 21 settimane.
Altre esecuzioni popolari furono quelle di Eddy Fisher nel 1951 e di Freddy Hart nel 1967.

"Questa è una di quelle interpretazioni di Elvis che amo maggiormente sopratutto per l'immenso lavoro fatto partendo dall'ascolto della matrice originale. Fà quasi ridere la preistoricità dell'esecuzione dell'autore al confronto con la potenza l'innovazione e la freschezza interpretativa del nostro Elvis".

Molto bella anche questa canzone, secondo i miei gusti però Elvis la tira un po' troppo per le lunghe.

To me as a devoted Elvis fan -I feel that Elvis did a great verion of this during his Memphis sessions In '69 -Its been reported that he played piano too on many out takes of this song -

Facts about sessions
t was bitter cold the evening of January 13, 1969, in Memphis, Tennessee. Producer Chips Moman and the searing band of musicians he had assembled at American Sound Studios were waiting the arrival of Elvis Presley and his notorious retinue. It would be the first evening of a scheduled ten day recording venture.

It would also be the first such session for Presley outside of Nashville or Hollywood since he cut his last side for Sam Phillips at Sun Studio in 1955.

The next few weeks were to be a milestone in Presley's career. On his own initiative, with considerable encouragement and prodding from his friends, he would slip from under his agent's conservative and protective control to work with one of the hottest house bands and one of the hottest producers in the country.
